Vera Ashworth, Vice President at CGI Federal, currently leads strategy and operations of CGI’s support to the Department of State, USAID, and the Department of Commerce. With a career as an executive in the Federal government and the private sector, her insight to client challenges and ability to develop and deliver sustainable services and solutions translates into government and taxpayer value. She supported the full suite of open government (OpenGov) planning and execution for the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), helping EPA become recognized as a top leader in providing open and accessible environmental data. Examples of EPA OpenGov advances include an action plan to publish strategic data in open format and leveraging the regulations.gov platform to develop FOIAonline, a public portal for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and response review. Vera also supported the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) recipient reporting program development and execution for EPA.
As a Federal executive, Vera was responsible for formulation, oversight and execution of EPA’s hazardous waste and emergency response program budget representing nearly $2B or 1/3 of EPA’s budget. She previously worked for Booz Allen and various small firms supporting EPA, private industry and the US Navy in IT planning and development, business intelligence solutions, enterprise architecture, and economic and statistical analysis.
